Research Project: 20% (due 12/9). You will write a research paper (6 sources from 2000-present) (7 pages). Your research paper will be on a topic about French culture (visually). What does this say about French aesthetics? What cultural values can you glean from the form? How does the form affect the function? The banned word list applies to each page individually, as in, you get to use être/avoir three times PER page. Your paper should be in Times New Roman 12, double-spaced. Images should be attached at the end.

Your second presentation will be a product pitch to the class (and to a panel of three professors) for 5 minutes.
You will create a 30second commercial for the class for an American product being launched in France. Your ad must contain a slogan. Your powerpoint presentation cannot include full sentences (except for the slogan), only one word slides or images. It must contain at least twenty slides. And your video must be made public and posted to YouTube. The thirty second video is considered part of your presentation.
Your pitch to the class will explain: 1. who you are marketing to (age group, class, gender), 2. why you are marketing to this group, 3. how your ad functions, 4. how your ad reflects French values and 5. why you think it will work in a French market.
Think this through. Do some research. Think of the class as a company that is shopping different marketing firms and you are trying to convince us that your ad is the best way to go.
